Hi again!

Last week we talked about the Arc discbound notebook and it’s features. This week we are taking a look at the Rhodia goalbook which, up front has the following:

  • 240 numbered pages (90 gsm ivory)(224 numbered pages, 240 pages in total)
  • Index
  • 2 Perpetual calendars (future log)
  • 2 ribbon bookmarks
  • Expandable inner pocket

There are several colors to choose from (you’ll find a link to everything I use at the bottom if you want to have a look 😉) and I went for the silver and orange. I think it looks neat although I’m not a huge fan of orange. 😁

Before I go into any details regarding my impressions of the book I’m going to talk about the PENTEST:

I have to say I was a little bit disappointed. It did OK, but it didn’t do great. The Staedtler Noris bled a little bit (which isn’t a surprise), but so did the Noodlers Ahab Flex and the Jinhao X450 when drawing a bolder line. The ghosting isn’t horrible, but it is definitively there whith almost every pen and marker I used.

Good things to say about the notebook:

  • The paper is good, maybe a little bit thin, but good. Still not nearly as bad as the Leuchtturm or the Moleskine though. 😝
  • I thought I would mind it being soft cover, but truth is it feels nice, like it’s not taking up so much space (if that makes any sense).
    • If it had been a little less wide it would feel better in my Travelers notebook actually, but being wider than the “Scribbles That Matter” that I am using currently it doesn’t work to well.
  • 2 bookmarks and numbered pages are always appreciated.

Not so good things… actually… it has a couple of things that are deal breakers for me personally:
* And remember that this is my opinion, if it works for you that is awesome! 😊

  • First, the dots are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too dark and big. I want them as a discrete guide, not as a statement of “look at my dots, I do bullet journaling!” 😂
  • The second thing is the color of the pages. Too ivory (yellowish) for my taste. I do prefer them almost white, but I don’t mind a little color. This one has too much of it. Below you can see a comparison between the Arc discbound  in the upper right corner, the Bondibook to the left and the Rhodia in the middle. It’s almost yellow. 😢

So my conclusion is… it’s not for me. But it is really a great notebook when it comes to quality so if you like the really visible dots, the color of the pages and you are looking for a good softcover, this is absolutely IT.

As usual, you’ll find a link to all my supplies at the very end if you would like to have a look. It doesn’t cost you a thing and it might give me a little incentive to keep testing new things. So… win win. 😁
